Derichebourg Spain Álava is located at the industrial estate of Asparrena in Araia (small town in the Basque Country, near Vitoria, north of Spain), and it occupies an area of 55.000 m2.

At this plant all kind of ferrous (iron) and non ferrous metals (copper, aluminum, brass, bronze, lead, etc.) are recycled, and also some hazardous waste, like car batteries. To achieve this, it counts with modern equipment including shear presses, mobile presses, wire peeling machines and cranes, as well as a hazardous waste storage area. It also counts with a large truck fleet with container service for collection at client’s premises.

Besides that, there are also two large facilities worth mentioning: the shredder plant and the cable recycling facility.

At the cable recycling facility, it takes place an automatic process of cable shredding and separation. Once grinded, the copper wires are classified until the smallest particle to obtain plastic and high grade copper, totally recycling the scrap from the wires.

All kind of scrap is treated at the shredder plant, but mainly ELV (End of Life Vehicles) and cans: the scrap is shredded and the compounds are separated into ferrous, non ferrous metal and shredded light fraction. Click here to see how it works an End of Life Vehicles Recycling Plant.
